Bill Burns

Airfix's 1/600 HMS Hood as she appeared in the early 1930's. Additions to the kit included an extensive photo-etch detailing set, an additional weapons set and the tiny resin Fairey IIIF with PE details all from White Ensign Models. I replaced the eight 15" gun barrels with stainless tubing and used 2lb monofilament fishing line for the rigging wires. The blast bags on the main and secondary guns are made with Squadron White putty and for paint I used Tamiya acrylics. The white ensign on the main mast is a "fold in half" decal from Arrow Graphics with a small piece of aluminium foil in the middle, and the Vice Admiral flag on the foremast was drawn on my computer using CorelDraw.
