Trojca #10: Blohm & Voss 222 Wiking
by Waldemar Trojca
reviewed by Steve Jantscher
This is
a package of very detailed 1/72 scale line drawings of the principal subject
aircraft, the BV 222 flying boat, with an additional reference section and detail
drawings of the Focke - Wulf 200 Condor. In addition to over 70 scrap and full
aircraft drawings of the BV 222, there are also some 13 full color drawings
of the aircraft. There are also 17 black and white photographs of the Bv 222,
and 16 such photographs of the Condor.
This is not your average resource material. Just about every conceivable area on the "Viking" is covered in at least one detailed drawing. These are on large sheets, able to take the model along side, for corrections if need be. Given the esoteric nature of the subject, these plans and detailed scrap drawings may will be the best source of exact structural information on this aircraft to be available for a long time to come.
The almost twenty drawings of the Focke - Wulf 200 Condor are icing on the cake for many, being appreciated, but also of a subject much covered elsewhere. Two color drawings also add to the Condor section. In addition, two paper 1/72 and 1/48th scale rulers are included too. This will be an addition much appreciated by those modelers soon to tackle the new 1/72nd scale Revell of Germany BV 222 kit.
