A Quick Look at Luftwaffe Over Czech Territory 1945
by Steve Jantscher
Luftwaffe
over Czech Territory 1945 is the most recent Ja-Po production, and as the
title might imply, it covers Luftwaffe operations in that part of Bohemia later
known as the Czech Republic. The first in a series of books covering late war
Luftwaffe action in Bohemia, this all english 9x12 inch, 263 page book is chock
full of never before seen in the west photographs and unit histories of that
most fatal last five months of WWII. Most of the hundreds of photographs are
of the "occupied airfield" variety, divided up generally by unit. There are
plenty of wrecks, but many with interesting paint schemes. This book also has
many personal flying and fighting stories by Luftwaffe pilots. The authors did
a very good job in identifying most of the aircraft, and units depected in the
book.
This book is on par, quality wise,
with those produced by Classic Books and only falls below those and Monogram
recent efforts by not having color photos or profiles. Still, for those who
are in the know, late war Luftwaffe has really been getting a shot in the arm
from recent (old) east european efforts. Ja-Po leads the way in their excellent
Me-109 K series books, and continues the tradition with this excellent history.
A must buy for serious Luftwaffe readers and late war builders.
