Aviatik D.I & D.II
published by JaPo
reviewed by Steve Jantscher
This book
covers just about everything any body could want to know about this aircraft.
This is another primarily English language aviation book from the publishers
from the Czech Republic, JaPo. The quality of the printing, paper, color illustrations
and black and white photographs take a back seat to no one. Windsocks, justifiably
well received as "expert" publications on WWI aircraft, have nothing
on this dedicated book. Published in a large format (11.5x8.25 inches) softcover,
included are over 150 high quality black and white period photographs expertly
reproduced, 12 color photographs of various details from a remaining museum
bird, and 26 full color aircraft profile illustrations (each with well written
descriptions). In addition to the aforementioned features, the 112 page book
has numerous line drawings and plans, as well as a copy of the pilot's manual.
Included in the last 13 pages is the complete text, reproduced in the Czech
language.

The overall excellence of this book almost begs to be purchased by anyone who likes fine books, and aviation titles in particular. For those with an interest in WWI aircraft and combat, and who want a complete library of fine books on the subject, purchasing this book is a "no brainer"!
